hi everyone had a gastroscopy last Saturday because was suffering heartburn so they thought ulcer. Luckily everything was normal just a slightly very slightly inflamed esophgeaus. Told to lose some weight and doctor is to put me on low dose poi. Which is 20 mg of ormoprazole. I take one in the morning. Only been on them a week. Since then I’ve suffered more chest pain after eating and no pain in my stomach just wondering how long it really takes for poi to work and do any of you suffer chest pain without heartburn. It’s straight after I eat. It’s not an unbearable pain but it’s getting me down now. Has anyone took poi and it’s actually took more than a few days for them to kick in. Thankyou and sorry for long post.
how long. : hi everyone had a... - Acid Reflux Support
how long.
I suffer from chest pain without heartburn. I was on PPI's but they made no difference so I stopped. I've had plenty of heart checks and a gastroscopy and everything is 'normal'. I just have to assume that the chest pain is acid refluxing into the LES and causing pain there. Like you, the pain isn't unbearable but it's annoying because it wakes me up and it's worrying, though it's so often and I've had so many checks, that it's almost certainly just acid around the LES (since mine only happens when I sleep).
Sorry your having pain. Mine is day and night but not always everyday. I just wondered if poo take more than a week to benefit from
I'm much better now that I'm off PPI's and eating VERY sensibly (basically just fruit, veg, muesli, which I'm starting to actually enjoy). I DID find that I had no heartburn on PPI's, and although that was never a problem, I did occasionally suffer from it. But that wasn't the problem, the problem was chest pains and it did nothing.
I can't advise you, but I have three friends who've taken PPI's and all felt better very quickly (a few days).
Perhaps they just don't work on you? They don't work on me, though I'm now 100% convinced that I have TOO LITTLE acid and I 'think' that's true of huge amounts of people. But I'm not a doctor nor have I done any lab research, but it all points towards that with me. My condition started because I was eating antacids like candies, so it's hardly surprising that I've messed up my acid levels. So just taking more antacids did nothing except keep me in the same place. As soon as I came off them and started eating super-healthy, I've improved rapidly.
According to these theories, too little acid has the exact same effect as too much, i.e heartburn, chest pains, sore throat etc. The theory being that too little acid causes your food not to digest properly, leading to bloating, gas build up etc and gases and peptins escape into your throat, where they don't belong.
I can't prove any of this and it goes against the current medical approach. I literally experimented on myself and found it to be true... for me.
yes they say can take up to 28 days although I’ve been on omeprazole now 27 days and still getting some heartburn / indigestion but then a gaviscon tablet works
