Sitting up?

When should I worry about my boy sitting up on his own without support? He's is 7 months old. I have read up that some don't develop that skill until 8-9months old but is there a time I should worry if he isn't sitting by then?

Hiya 👋🏻👋🏻 Wow he is 7 months now (I think we chatted before about sleep - or lack of it- I hope that’s going a bit better 🤞🏻) . I’m not sure tbh what the margin is for developmental steps. I know my little ones jumped steps but then didn’t do things on time for other things. I was always comparing with friends children which was probably the worst thing to do lol. I think you should get a health visitor review at around the 9-12 month stage so they are always a good person to chat with or if there is anything in particular is worrying you, you can always ring them directly. Yep 7 months now lol. Thomas is still fighting sleep. But once he is asleep he usually stays asleep for about 11 - 12 hrs a night do can't complain. It's just the trying to get him to go sleep without my aid lol. So i may have to let him do a little bit of crying but not too much as I can't bear him crying so he's almost like he's gonna be sick.

For some reason, I'm finding I'm kinda comparing Thomas to my daughter but then again, I've been told boys are lazier with developmental skills lol. How true that is, is another thing lol. I will certainly give the health visitors a ring around the 9-10mth mark if he hasn't developed further and just see what they say. I reckon he's gonna be crawling before he sits up haha.

That’s an amazing amount of sleep once settled 👏🏻👏🏻 Wow! Yes I totally compared my children and they were all so different. I was ringing my HV a lot in each of my four children’s first years lol. It was really reassuring and I always think it’s better to check if you are worried.

Honestly having children is such a learning curve isn’t it? My daughter didn’t crawl and then suddenly started bum shuffling when she was about a year. She then didn’t really need to walk until quite late because she got really quick on her bum lol. She just liked to do things her way I guess (she still does though 😂)

Oh yes, it certainly is a learning curve. I'm finding I'm having more of a reality check with this one. My daughter was so easy. Developed at almost the suggested ages they learn things and weaning was easy too.

However, Thomas has just changed things around and I'm almost like a lost sole lol. Everything is done differently with him lol. I think personally once he's either sitting up on his own, crawling or even walking, he will be better. But I like when they get up to mischief and you go find out what they are doing haha.
