I started trying to wean my 6.5month old boy a week before 6 months as he seemed ready. Whenever we tried bits like puree, he would just spit it all back out and when doing finger food, he had a go but didn't seem to get anywhere.
I thought I would give it a miss a few days and try again and if not, try again in a few days time etc. However I was going to try again in this last week but he has got a rotten cough and cold. So his milk intake has dropped by half at the moment.
What I'm asking is do i try weaning again even with his milk intake dropped and if he's not well or do I wait until he's better. I feel I'm leaving weaning too late.

So sorry to hear your young man is unwell! It might be best to introduce solids again once he's feeling a little better and maybe more receptive to new things. You sound like you're really in tune with him so be guided by him and when you feel he is ready, give it another try. It can take babies a long time to get used to the tastes, smells and textures of food so don't worry if he takes some time to explore food before he fully eats it! We have some tips on weaning here that might help - justonenorfolk.nhs.uk/healt...
I hope he feels better soon! We also have some information about caring for a poorly baby - justonenorfolk.nhs.uk/child...
