Has anyone been in the same situation and can reassure me things will get better, or any tips?! Little one is nearly 9months old and has zero interest in food at all really! Started off with pureès at lunch time and went well for the first week or 2, started to introduce a breakfast around and hour after morning milk and finger food at both meal times. Breakfast started well aswell and he would have half a weetabix with mashed banana or porridge with fruit. Je played with the finger food at first vut eventually started to eat that well. Then after another week or so he just lost interest completely, clamps his mouth shut! He'll pick up the finger food and put it to his mouth, maybe have 1 small bite if I'm lucky! However, if I offer him small bites of things outside of meal times, bread, strawberries etc, he'll eat it off my finger! The only thing he currently eats successfully every single time is melty sticks or baby yogurts, which obviously aren't ideal! 🤦‍♀️. I know you shouldn't compare but when I see all these younger babies on here eating all these lovely things and enjoying 3 meals a day it really worries me! It's also really disheartening when your batch cooking meals and preparing breakfast ect knowing that it's just going to go in bin! 😫

Hi every baby are different and some will take longer. Have you tried eating with him my little girl always wanted what was on my plate and not hers so I started with a share plate and then moved onto her own plate it's a bit harder with puree foods but good with finger foods try not to worry the first 6 months of trying foods should be fun as long as he is having his milk still he will be getting the right nutrition. How is he in himself? There are great tips on the just one norfolk website under solid foods. Or if your really worried give the just one norfolk a call 0300 300 0123

Hope this helps let me know if you need anything more support.

Thank you for your reply. Yes he is teething at the moment so hopefully back to normal once they're through! I'll also try eating my meals with him too

Hi amycj88 ,

Babypigeon has given some great advice, so just wanted to offer a few links which you may find helpful :-)

nhs.uk/start4life/weaning

We also find firststepsnutrition.org/eat... a really helpful resource.

Food at this age is very much about exploring the new tastes and textures and giving baby plenty of opportunities to do this.

Sounds like you are doing a great job. Please get in touch if you would like a bit more advice.

Not what you're looking for?
