High tumour marker in liver - worrisome Christmas

My husband is 18 months post IL surgery. He was recovering well and had very little eating issues (eats 6 small meals daily).

He has lose 4 kgs (now weighs 65kg) over the past 2-3 weeks. Had pain around the back on his right side. Difficulty swallowing.

CT scan showed: tumour markers on his liver were remarkedly high hence symptoms of weight loss and pain, etc.

Specialist said he will organise an appointment with the oncologist asap and let us know by next 24 hrs. Chemo therapy is high on the chart to treat this liver situation.

I’m worried how will my husband’s body tolerate chemo. I think I’ll have to find ways to help him put on some weight ie: if it is possible in readiness for treatment.

Hi, I appreciate its a worrying time. I found a dietition specialising in oncology really useful. She had me reduce protein and replace with good fats and that did help. A diet plan worked wonders for me. Hope this helps and my best wishes.
