Thank you Spikey for your advice re oxalipatid - I will ask the oncologist when we see him on Monday. Bit of a mix-up with this virus situation, we are in Malta, my husband was diagnosed & then thought why not have the treatment at the Marsden as we live practically next door - then with the quarantine & everything he decided to stick here - so all I can do is my best to help him as he has helped me when I have had my cancers. I have told him about the radiotherapy which he knows when I had it twice - so that is no problem - the chemo is - he is really frightened - I keep telling him he is not going to die from this - just look at me, I'm still alive - but I do understand how he feels - chemo can not be very nice & I didn't realise how awful it can be until I read the comments. It is nice to be on this site 'cos at least I am in contact with other people who had the same - we saw the dr on Wednesday & she told him if he doesn't do this then it could be a throat op, which I do't think he realises what she is talking about - thank God. Who would ever think that such a small thing could affect your life? I would never ever have thought it - anyway thanks to all of you - you have been so helpful & I wish you the best in life.

vocal chord cancer
Hi my first comment is get to the Marsden if you possibly can. People come from all over the world for the amazing cancer care they give. The experts at t Marsden are top of their field. My job until last Christmas was training doctors and dentists how to meet Care Quality Commission regulations. Since I’ve been a patient at the Marsden I’m continually impressed at the expertise and standard of care. This disease is one where the level of care you get will impact on the outcome. Malta will just be a relatively minor level of skills compared to the Marsden. Secondly having had chemo four times I can confirm it’s awful. But it passes. Radiotherapy Of the throat or oesophagus can be awful too but that also passes. I don’t know how his care will go but in my case it’s been three years and I’m still cared for by the Marsden, they are always there for me. If you start in Malta what will you do for ongoing care if it is needed. What if Malta is affected by Covid? In the U.K. cancer care ground to a halt during lockdown and is now struggling to catch up. People’s treatment is delayed. However as the Marsden is a specialist cancer hospital, it continued providing treatment during lockdown. I don’t know tho if you can be referred there now, unless you are private. Pm me if you would like to speak on the phone about it.
