Pete update
Hi so sorry to hear that Pete is still struggling, I have had the same experience after a terrible night of bringing up that horrible bile which then has led to a rattling chest and can be quiet painful , it has then taken a few days to clear and can be very tiring.

I am 3 years post surgery in October.
I often get aspirational pneumonia from bringing up and aspirating bile during the night. I personally have found drinking a glass of water about 10 PM helps me somewhat with the bile.
I am sleeping inclined and since I usually bring up the bile in the morning after 5 AM, I now move to a recliner I have in my bedroom each night about 4 AM and complete my nights sleep in the recliner. It has really helped as before I was getting aspirational pneumonia sometimes about every month to every other month this year.
I find that the bile issue is one of the worst parts of post surgery for me.
Good luck Pete. The antibiotics make a quick world of difference.
Thanks for your reply he has a adjustable bed and sleep at a tilt he is still just on sips of water and I put water through his feeding tube to help hydrate him
I sometimes slide down in the Inclined bed as the night went on. And when I ended up flat, that was when the bile came up. That’s why I have chosen to move to a recliner about 4 AM as it prevents me from lying flat.
Hi petercaron I am 7 years post op Ivor Lewis , and I can suffer the same regarding the nasty bile, I sometime wake up quickly and pop a locket ( honey & lemon flavour) anytime during the night which can help break down the nasty bile, I also now take esomeprazole one a day and this has helped heaps.i hope it also helps you.

Hi. I’m sorry for Pete’s continuing struggles. I think you were wise to be concerned & get the doctor to take a look. Better safe than sorry. I hope the antibiotics & steroids have done their work & that Pete is feeling better.
My prayers continue for Pete & you, too.
