I have severe acid reflux and am on hydrocodone for pain ( different pains). My question is does this pain medication make the acid reflux worse or is it my imagination?

Most medicine are to be taken on full stomach, in principle. Exceptions like creon I take during the meals.
If you already have acid reflux meaning potentially your stomach is empty or partly full. So any medicine like paracetamol, ibuprofen or codeine phosphate you put in the stomach is going to make it the acidity worst.
When I had acidity most time throwing up the acid and then soothing with gaviscon and cold water with cold milk used to help reduce the reflux pains for whole night.
Remember codeine medicine is highly addictive and should be quickly weaned off and not a long term medication. You must be aware already.
Good luck.
Have you tried taking Zoton tablets these are good for reflux .I take 2morning 2night ,time to time I still have that choking .Keep sleeping on very high pillows I have 5pillows at nite.
ps my surgeon put me on these after my op 13year ago.
Best wishes
