Has anybody had a cardioplasty for ac... - Oesophageal & Gas...
Has anybody had a cardioplasty for achalasia?
Yes I did, it did nothing for me and I ended up having an esophagectomy. However I was really end stage achalasia and it was a bit of a desperate last ditch effort to keep my Esophagus. I found the recovery a bit grim and in hindsight I should have just gone straight to the 'ectomy rather than having it.
My daughter had it done six weeks ago and still has some problems with food getting stuck. The prof who did the op said he is very sure she will be eating without sticking very soon as he was able to open it right up and the op went very well. I'm just worried it's all been for nothing but keep reminding myself that it's major surgery and will take time to heal. We go back to see him on Tuesday so hopefully will find out more. Hope you are doing well now.
