I saw one last week as I have had back trouble, she worked all over my body and now my ribs are hurting again. I am just wondering if it's a good thing or not. Anyone else had experience with a chiropractor?

Has anyone seen a chiropractor since surgery.
I think quite a lot of people have pain in their ribs afterwards. It depends on what the surgeon did in the operation, but often they have to cut away part of some ribs to get access to the various bits of your chest. And sometimes the nerves take quite a long time to settle down afterwards.
Did your ribs hurt before seeing the chiropractor? I know that they do things differently from how a physiotherapist would treat you. Has the session improved your back?
I would think that it is worth telephoning the chiropractor for their advice about whether what they did might have had an effect?
Hope it gets better soon.

Hi Bernadette.
I haven't seen a chiropractor since surgery, however I have seen a number of chiropractors over the years due to back trouble. This is only my personal opinion, but I wouldn't use one after having had surgery. I think that a physiotherapist would be far more gentle. What helped me with my back problems was variation. I found that some days a nice gentle walk would help, other days all I could do was rest. I hope this helps.
Kind Regards

H Alan, thanks for reply. I have to see her again this thursday, but I dont think she is familiar with the surgery. My ribs used to hurt alot, surgery three years ago, however its been abit easier in the last six months, but she says there maybe adhesions...the back has improved because she thinks it is something that was pressing against the nerve, in the mid back section. I was worried that she may do more harm than good.
Dear Bernadette
I am sure that all the surgery scars have well and truly healed by now. They usually quote 6 weeks for this, but nerves take longer. If you have any doubts, a quick phone call to the specialist nurse might be a good idea?
Hope it sorts itself out.
Alan
My ribs hurt a lot after surgery especially when I got tired, I was refereed to the Pain clinic and they cooked some nerves under local anesthetic which solved the problem. The Consultant said it was possible that the nerves were damaged by rib spreaders etc used during the op.
