Hello everyone, its good to have a community that knows what it actually feels like to be dealing with ocd and that don’t use it as a noun (im so ocd and all that bullshit) ocd is a very hard condition to be living with and i sincerely send my love and support to everyone out there doing their best every day. I am hitting rock bottom again after months of finally feeling better.. i am very disappointed and exhausted, 1 little trigger can send you back to hell, at least thats what happened with me and here i am starting all over with therapy and this time considering parallel therapy ( CBT + meds) i’m visiting tomorrow this new psychiatrist and will more likely get prescribed with new meds..it is a long journey ahead of me.. and i am scared, i never did well with anti-depressants..i hope this time it will workout with me. hopefully the psychiatrist will have prescribed different meds for you - they can bypass the NHS rules as such and ignore diazepam and CBT, pet suggestions of the NHS, irrespective of the severity of the obsessive disorder.
I also found Psyahiatrists to be more understanding, more loose on their comments and more advanced than the NHS when prescribing meds. I went first to a private Psycho, then carried out with the nhs - whose psycho kept up the regime set by his private colleague.
You may want to consider Acceptance and Commitment Therapy 8ACT). The NHS does support it and it can work great for people whose pshychic make-up is at odds with CBT, like me for example. Too many tasks to be carried out and an expectancy on the part of the therapist that they will be done, else its your fault.
You can Google ACT on the NHS and discvoer ACT and reade about it to give you a different (than CBT) perspective. Its kind of the-same but not the same. Reading about it you will realize the difference. For me it did ther trick - it did give me more freedom in choosing the course of action in dealing with the obsessions. It workeed and by and large I feel much better for it.
The LA OCD center (Los Angeles) has a good writer up and various other articles on ACT and OCD. Worth a read.

Thanks for your good wishes! I too get annoyed when people say 'I'm so OCD' when they simply mean they're a bit fussy or very tidy!
CBT and meds go well together. Meds can only do so much, but they damp down the OCD somewhat and make the CBT easier. And CBT reinforces what the meds do.
Antidepressants don't always suit people, and often it involves trying several different ones before you get one that suits you. It's a bit of a pain, and I'm pleased that sertraline suited me from the start so I didn't have to experiment.
Do hang on in there. Most of us on this forum know what it's like being at the mercy of OCD.
And remember that OCD does fluctuate. So at the moment you may feel at rock bottom, but you will have good patches as well as bad patches. Good luck for the appointment with the new psychiatrist.
