Is this OCD?

I seem to always numbers in my head, I seem to always be counting in my head, I count each step I take with both legs and they can never be odd. I can’t seem to stop counting it’s always in my head, if I end on a odd number I have to start again. I don’t even know what is wrong with me but I’m counting all day. Making sure everything is even. Making I touch things 10times even when I’m outside. I have twitches and if I twitch 3 times I have to force myself to do it another 3 times as then I’ve done it 6 times and only twice. So it’s all even numbers. I don’t know if this is ocd but it’s driving my crazy.

So glad you have joined this group. Hope you will soon find some support and answers you are not alone. I have OCD and it is very hard to cope with but there are people that can help and so very kind and supportive please feel you can write anytime.

It sounds like OCD. Counting things is a common form of OCD. And it can get inside your brain so it is like a background to everything you do. The odd/even number thing is also quite common amongst people with counting OCD.

Do get a referral to a therapist from your GP, and consider medication. Taking pills isn't the only answer but it can help. The most commonly prescribed meds are SSRI antidepressants such as sertraline, which are effective against OCD. And come back and post on this site if you want to swap experiences with others!

Hello:)

I deal with the same thing, all day long. I count the words In sentences, even syllables in words.

I repeat the word or sentence in my head, counting until it becomes even.

I use my teeth to count. It’s super weird but I also do Sony and Bose over and over on my teeth, up and down. I zoomed in on a DVD player (Sony) and speaker (Bose) while watching the 9/11 coverage. Little back story to that because I know that’s beyond weird :)

I have been diagnosed with OCD if that helps with your question. I spoke to my GP.

I proofread this counting on my teeth as well 😑
