Big Decisions

Hello, as part of my experience of OCD, I struggle with accepting responsibility. I have to provide people with really generic answers like 'possibly' and such.

just wondering if there were any remedies for this?

Have you any remedy for your OCD or are you self diagnosed?

Find a professional to talk to if you feel this rules your life

Personally I think it is very wise not to over commit and leave your options open

If this is compulsion of which words you use rather than the actions which follow it must be frustrating but it does not sound as if it is all consuming

We all have tendencies but it does sound to me as though you are contemplating your navel

Have you gone on to do the things you have not committed to?

Are you afraid of commitment?

Maybe you just have low self esteem

Makes sense to get it sorted as you obviously have concerns

Try the GP first

I am self diagnosed as I cant bring myself to go to the Doctors about it, it was such a big decision to go to the doctor for other reasons - I guess I just don't wanna label it - thank you for your reply :)

I am so glad you saw my reply as no one else on here seems to know much about OCD

I can understand you being afraid especially if you have other troubles too

Sometimes it can help to label things

I am no expert but sounds like you are stressed does not sound like OCD

There is loads online about OCD people love to say 'I am a little bit OCD'

It seems people thinks it a trendy excuse for any slight strangeness

OCD is all consuming

It used to be called the secret disease so hiding it is not unusual

Maybe you could pick up on the other OCD posts you should find the listed on the right

Have a read if you can these may give you some insight

I hope some of your other problems have been dealt with

Maybe you will be less stressed with other areas of your life under control?

I just re read your first post what other symptoms do you have

Please talk if it helps

I don't want to be nosy I have had OCD most of my adult life and hyperventilation and blue in before that

I would love to help if only a little

Please don't suffer in silence

K xx

I can't say I know my symptoms to.be honest, I think I am just a very pedantic human being, so everything has to be my way - I have to order things in a specific way - I have been in public beforeand iI have had to atop yo organize small things - but that could just be my personality?

The main ones are

- not being able to make big decisions

- avoiding responsibility

And I do have other issues - I think u may be right - given my situation stress looks likely :) ... Thank you K x

So what exactly have you mentioned to the doctor and what haven't you?

Dani17 profile image
Dani17 in reply toKNOW_OCD_MOR_THAN_ME

I haven't been to the doctor about my OCD only depression and anxiety ... But my destructive tendencies .... Dark thoughts .... And symptoms I guess

It took me a while to go in terms of my OCD too. But its done now and awaiting CBT therapy. It is what is referred to as a secret illness. I felt people would think i was ridiculous. But I've now reached a stage, where I've spoke to my doctor, family, friends, work and even my son's school. It can be done, i found thinking of the initial step is harder than it taking place...

Ok. I do wish you the best of luck. Please make that first step when you can. I want you to start the healing process. There are things we can no longer control/change. But the future is yours. X

I'll see my doctor on the 21st for a check up I think and I'll ask him to refer me ... I know I won't have to be alone but I'll feel like it :/
