Hello there

I was down too 1mg of pred when both my knees became painful. The doctor booked me in for physio. 1 month on I'm still waiting. My left knee swelled up. I went back up to 10mg of pred which reduced my knee swelling & pain.

Physio will give me a steroid injection in my knee which should reduce pain for 6 months.

i've reduced to 7 mg of pred & knee pain is bearable.

I guess your knees are like mine which after 63 years have lost some cartilage.

Have you had knee xray or MRI? Giving you physical therapy is great if they know what issue your having and steroid injections are not something that should be often and pred is same as injections not given long term.

If your knees are swelling do you have a torn meniscus or tendon along with Arthritis in your knees but you won't know any of this unless they MRI your knee (which is better to see tendon and meniscus tears)then xray.

I'm going out on a limb and say your MRI has revealed early start of osteoarthritis of the knee and a Running physio seems like this person will gait train you if your a runner which might explain your issues. Are you a Runner?

Hmm not a runner maybe you need help with walking, it’s hard to say since every country calls things different stuff. I’m here in US and Running physio is usually for runners.

My knees hurt and I find taking Glucosamine Chondroitin has helped tremendously and Schfif has one that I really like it is in a red bottle and it is called Mega Red. If I forget to take it i can tell.

Physiotherapy helps. Can you do any Skype sessions with your physio? It can help with strengthening excercises for quads, hamstring etc unless ofcourse if you’re experiencing sharp pain which may be because of a meniscus tear etc. icing also helps. Also RICE (rest, ice , compress and elevate ) is a good advise!
