Wishing for a Miracle

Lately my legs have been swollen, hot and cold to the touch. My back hurts fiercely and my strength has left me week. I have brain fog and I seldom remember what my thoughts are. My hands & fingers are swollen and they hurt, I can barely unscrew the toothpaste. My migraines consume most of my days & I seldom sleep through the night. My neck feels heavy from the swelling. I'm in so much pain but I refuse to take prescription pain pills because the stopped helping me years ago. Two weeks ago I visited the Emergency room for swelling in my leg, chest pain, numbness in my toes, feet, arm and shortness of breath after bloodwork and Cat scan of my heart the on call physician told me I need to be tested for Lupus. I have Fibromyalgia, Arthritis, slipped & bulging disc in my back & neck and one unsuccessful surgery. My days begin and end in excruciating pain that never leaves.

Slow to respond over here, apologies for that. Thank you for sharing your story. No miracles here, I'm sorry to say. Now that it's been a few weeks, I hope you were able to get more answers to all that is going on with swelling and unremitting pain. Your hesitancy in taking pain meds that do not have a notable impact is not surprising or uncommon. My first suggestion always falls to remaining active and mobile - this may sound crazy to you when it is enough just to get through your day. Have you tried mindful or meditative activities? For example, yoga or stretching or tai chi for arthritis? Pool activities, if you have access and interest, can also be soothing and reduce weight bearing and impact while still keeping you moving. Meditation may also help to calm your mind and your thoughts to regain a sense of control over your pain. Perhaps also reviewing your diet to minimize foods that may trigger inflammation. These are all broad options but may give you avenues to focus your energy away from pain or to overcome pain and give you a handle on your symptoms. I wish you well on your journey.

Hi Mistic777..I hope you get my reply, I just joined this grp. I totally sympathize with the pain you are dealing with. I've been on Disability since I was 30yrs. 20+ surgeries and tons of chronic pain daily. But I have great Drs and the help of Modern and Holistic medicine. I will give you a few things that hopefully will relive some pain, but please ask your Drs 1st.

1st off the hot/cold & swelling in your leg worries me. I wish the Drs would figure that out. You may need to wear a compression sock to help the swelling? Or possibly a diabetic pill? Some of it can also be connected to your inflammation. Look up on Google for a list of All foods that cause Inflammation. You might be surprised what you will find. I know I was when my Physical Therapist gave me the list. Stop eating those foods and it will help how you feel, just give it time. I'm not allowed to take anti-inflammatory meds due to my Vascular EDS. But I found a natural vitamin/spice- Tumeric 200mg. It's a great, natural anti-inflammatory to help relieve pain if you dont want pain meds. Sadly I am on 3 pain meds, plus 5 other meds for other problems.

I just hit back into my Essential Oils to help my Anxiety, Insomnia, energy, Headaches/migraines. If you dont take any Vitamines- these will help the following things- Magnesium- bowels (I have IBS) muscle (body) cramps 400 or 500mg daily, Potassium 200 to 400mg daily (cramps, energy and helps u stay hydrated), Vit D- gives u energy, alot of ppl are low in this, Vit B or B Complex- energy, Probiotics/Acidophilus-Bowels/helps the GI and helps u feel better, Iron helps with energy too.

Talk to your Drs about a TENS Machine. I dont know if you have a Pain Management Dr, that's who I got my machine from.

And exercise for sure. Like Kirstenra stated, it's the way to losing weight and feeling better. But start with stretching, yoga, cardio. Find what works for you. I love yoga, meditation and cardio. I hope I haven't just overloaded you. But I'm 40ys old and been dealing with my pain, Bone in bone hips since I was 10yrs old plus multiple Aneurysms, fibro, and much more. I know if I can fix me ,you can fix you. ❤ I have faith in you.
