Honouring the Divine Masculine

Harnessing the power of Sun. Surya is Sanskrit for Sun. Surya Namaskar - salutation to the Sun. We recently moved though Summer Solstice here in the Northern Hemisphere. 21st June 2022. A potent day.

How fitting too that Fathers Day falls so very close to Summer Solstice.. The longest day of light. The Sun embodies the energy of masculine. The Ra of the fiery solar plexus. Our vitality. Our verve. Our capacity to roar with great big tummy rubbing belly laughs.

We are each a sacred blend of masculine and feminine. The sperm and the ovum. In yoga, this is reflected in the ida and pingala nadis - energy channels that wrap around the sushumna nadi - the central channel. Pictures bring this to life so beautifully. Depicting more of the subtle body. What is not seen, yet is very much felt.

The undulating balancing and harmonising of the sun and moon energies. The sun is outward - representing our masculine side - relationship to the father line. Expressed in our human form in the right side of the body, coordinated by the left brain. The pingala nadi is masculine. The light of the Sun.

What might you sense and feel for yourself into your own masculine energy around the Summer Solstice? The Sol. The Ra. The Soleil. The yellow.

The Sun can help to vivify. Not too much or we burn. The symbolic message of that - we cannot be in active mode all the time. Sleep deprivation truly is crazy making!

Things start to compensate and come out in heart palpations, elevated blood pressure, tantrums, explosions of anger…panic, indigestion, acid reflux - it is a deep enquiry to seek to balance these energies on an ongoing basis. The energies that spin and weave in a unique tapestry for each person.

Allow a gentle, yet firm, enquiry as to how balanced you feel at the moment. What qualities can the Sun help you reignite.

Do you need a holiday? Do you need to take that step and apply for the job you’ve been wishing you had? Is there a conversation that needs to be had with someone to clear the air? Do you need to change pattern of behaviour that s self sabotaging?

Do you need to hang out with your favourite people where you can just be silly and fall about in peels of laughter - those people in your life that are of the ‘sunny’ disposition. Are you one of your favourite people??

Self love is the ultimate sunshine we can call in. That we are on our own side.

In essence - what light can you shine on a particular situation percolating around you at the moment? The Summer Solstice is about honouring nature and taking actions to demonstrate that sacred honouring.

Eating yellow foods (lemon in hot water first thing such a great homage to solar power!). Getting a bit of sun on your skin. 10-15 minutes is great. Stimulate the skin cells to speak to the liver to speak to the kidneys - the incredible cascade of bio-activity inside your own body that produces vitamin D.

Buy yourself some yellow roses or sunflowers….gaze upon star bursts of St Johns Wort who burst into mini sunshines at this time of year. Stand barefoot upon the earth of the Great Mother and raise your arms to the Surya (sun) and call upon more light to help dismantle the limiting beliefs that are holding you back….make it up as you go along. It’s what we are all doing. Smile from your very belly.

Wishing you joy and revelations in the exploration.

In warmth,

Ciara Jean Roberts
