Hayfever? Heal your gut to support your immune response

Hi there lovely community. How lovely Summer is with the warmer weather, longer days and sunshine. For some though the hay fever can be troublesome and very draining. Anti-histamines can interfere with serotonin metabolism and with all pharmaceuticals are merely treating the symptoms (and then not very well) whereas true medicine addresses the root cause. Gut health is absolutely key to modulating the immune system and in particular what's called the Th1 and Th2 balance. Nurturing the gut through good daily fibre (fruit and veg, oats if you eat them, nuts and seeds), plenty of hydration with good water at room temperature. A course of kefir can also do wonders for getting the gut bacteria out of a state of dysbiosis (imbalance). A little local raw honey can also be helpful to introduce to your body the local flora. Managing your stress too as allergies always will have some degree of an over-active stress response meaning likely there is too high a level of stress hormones in your body adding to the overall inflammation. Rinse the eyes with cool water if you suffer from itchy eyes. Keep working towards harmony in the gut, including how you feel within your own body. It all matters.
