At the clinic on Monday, my urine has dramatically changed colour a really luminous yellow!!! I am just asking if this is normal? It's all new and a bit scary so any advise would be gratefully received,
Hi I am newly diagnosed, Monday in fact, I will be st... - NRAS
Hi I am newly diagnosed, Monday in fact, I will be starting mxt in 2 weeks, I have started on Naprosyn 500mg and had depomedrone
Hi Ibtabby and glad u found this site, it has really helped me since I got diagnosed. Sorry though you got diagnosed with RA though, but it sounds like your doctors are acting very quickly and helping your pain, and also getting your inflammation down a bit. Now neon urine! I haven't heard anyone say either of the tablets or steroids cause that but what does is some of the disease modifying drugs such as sulphasalasine, it makes your wee orangy yellow! Also one of the main causes of that colour is multivitamin tablets and drinks, I don't know if u take supplements but any excess vitamins the body doesn't need is passed out and generally yellow in colour!
Hope u r managing, if you go onto the NRAS website Nras.org.uk, there is. Wealth of info on there and a brilliant helpline. And we r here too. Look forward to hearing from you soon A xx
Hello & Welcome!
Sulfasalazine can make your urine yellow - but it doesn't sound as if you've been taking that. I've never heard anyone say that RA has that effect ..... hmmm! You might get some leads.
As for advice, well try not to worry & if you manage that please let me know how! Seriously though: you've got two of the most important things out of the way & underway - getting a diagnosis and starting on a drug which may well help you considerably. And you've found this site too of course. I'd advise you to post on here if you have any concerns or worries or want to celebrate feeling loads better.
It is a scary thing to get a diagnosis of RA but plenty of people with RA live full lives & find that the drugs work extremely well. Hope to hear more from you,
Luce xx
The only time my wee has ever gone bright yellow as you describe was when I took Sulphasalazine briefly. Not sure about this but I don't think it does relate to RA although could be wrong of course.
Anyway welcome to the site - sorry you've been diagnosed with RA but hopefully the drugs will work very soon. You may not need the Naproxen once the steroid injection works as they are generally pretty effective. Hopefully by the time the injection wears off the MTX will be working well for you as it did for me - but not too fast. Tilda x
I am grateful for your replies it is very odd I agree, I am not taking any other meds or supplements, oh well that's a mystery... it is startling though lol.
I am so pleased my consultant recommended this site, he was right when he said you were the experts and had all the advise and support anyone could need,
Praise indeed, x
I didn't think of that!!
Mmm thinking of the urine, food colouring also can do it, yellow sweets ? If not you win, no idea lol xx
its probably been this colour many times before ,, just youve just never noticed it.
only when you start having to pee in a pot for samples . you get a close up look .. not something you do normally ,, but when you say luminous ,, it didnt literally: Glow-in-the-Dark ,, did it .??. i wouldnt worry
welcome to the group ...
Ha! I've not eaten all the yellow skittles or sherbet lemons!! Nor have I pee'd in a pot since Monday ... it's definitely different, how funny, biggest concern of the day left hand not functioning fat swollen and so painful, was not there yesterday! Oh dear school, run in a minute how to drive the car!
Problems problems x
Well I can't help you about luminous wee lol but just wanted to welcome you to the site
some amazingly knowledgable folk on here who are always helpful and caring. Take care. Love Janet xxx
Mine's green - because of the laxative i take to counteract the constipation caused by the painkillers!
Hello! hope you are coping well today. We can all relate to that initial shock following diagnosis. Try not to panic & stress too much. Arm yourself with information and start that list of questions you need to ask at the next appointment.
Early diagnosis makes such a difference - as you will learn from the blogs on this site.
Good luck. Hope it all goes smoothly for you x
