Hi
I think its because your ankles & feet swell so much with ra. I have had the same as you. Because of steroids and the med starting to work I can get back into my shoes I had before ra, because my feet aren't as swollen, but I find them still uncomfortable when I have been wearing them for a while. I still prefer for comfort to wear the shoes i bought for ra, i.e extra wide.
Cheers Sci

Hi when I was first diagnosed with RA, my feet swelled from a c fitting to a triple e fitting and I could only wear flatties as feet so uncomfortable. They still do swell from time to time particularly if the weather is hot or I have been sitting for any length of time (like plane or coach rides).
Very glad to see you don't have RA - I assume it is osteo arthritis you have as that is caused by wear and tear on the joints as we get older. I have it in my knees as well as the RA.
You could ask to be referred to the Podiatrist at the hospital who should be able to give you inserts to make your feet more comfortable.
All the best. LavendarLady x
