Did anyone get this years flu vaccine and get a sore ... - NRAS
Did anyone get this years flu vaccine and get a sore arm & a gassy tum? To say the least!
Yes and yes! I was in agony with my arm, couldn't lift it above my head, move it suddenly or lie on it for at least 3 days! Felt rough afterwards too, not nice at all! I just kept thinking it'll be worth it as last year I didn't have it done and went and got flu Hope you feel better soon x
Hi
No i didn't have any probs this year, but has been very sore on previous years. Guess it is down to the individual response.

I am contemplating getting it, and thought I would discuss with GP or consultant.
I have just got over my first viral infection - a heavy cold since being diagnosed. Here's the thing. I am still got the tail end of i, or it is lingering. Is this normal shold of been completely clear from end of last wk say friday, I still have the occasional running nose. I am not sure if the cold like symptoms especially in the morning is the ra or the cold I have just had and am having trouble clearing it completely. Not keen for the jab if it gonna take ages to get over it.
Get well soon
Hi Gina, I had a sore arm for a couple of days and laying on it at night, I certainly felt it. An ice pack helps or a cold flannel. Didn't have any tummy problems though. As Ella32 says, it is down to individual responses but any major upsets should be reported to the GP/Practice Nurse at the surgery.
Sciqueen - do have the flu jab and possibly the pneumonia one if you haven't had it before. The RA causes your immune system to crash and the last thing you want (believe me - I've been there) is flu on top.
There is a bug going the rounds at present which is taking about 3 weeks to clear up and leaving everyone with a hacking cough and a chest infection. It sounds as if you haven't really thrown the cold off yet. They may not give you the flu jab until you are clear of it although it should not cause any problems as it is a "dead" vaccine. Speak to your practice nurse at the surgery for advice.

It was pain free this year!!.. x
I had no problems at all with the jab.. it is best to get have it.. my work predicts we are still have possiblity of pandemic this year!!
When the swine flu vaccine came out as a seperate vaccine a year or two ago it was that one that hurt and gave a painful arm.
This year the vaccine (which is deactivated ie not able to cause flu.!). but give the body chance to recognise it! contains two flu virus strains and one swine flu strain.. I even had it done the same day as my gold injection! x
We all the same, I was having my bloods taken frm one arm, and the vaccine in the other. What r we like. How is the gold going? I did'nt know you were persisting with that.

I've had the flu jab this year - found it pain free but do agree with the gassy tummy. I've been diaganosed with RA this year and I had the flu jab the same day as I started to inject mxt and added a shed full of other tablets! Was blaming the wind on the tablets - didn't think of the flu jab. Hope it stops soon...
Recently found this site and found it helpful - this is my first post.
Well welcome to you! Glad to hear someone else had the same anti social reaction as me seems to have cleared up now thanks god! I kept blaming my dogs. My sister said she got windy too, I have it every year but never had that problem!!! LOL
Hi Gina, I have had the flu jab every year and don't remember a gassy tum or blaming the dog (she gets blamed for a lot in our house!). How very strange. Perhaps it is the particular vaccine this year - as Summer says above it is 2 types + swine flu. Are pigs particularly windy I wonder? Only kidding. LavendarL
I had my first flu jab a few days ago, thought i was a "toughy", i was wrong!! I felt like id been hit by a bus! I was stiff ached and like you my arm hurt like mad, spent a couple of days in bed, which isnt like me, but felt much better for resting. Hope you're well now
