My surgeon's policy is to keep you on your meds for surgery, has anyone else ever had this and did it make any difference? He says a flare could interfere/ undo the work he is going to do on my ankle? Oh I dunno, I am due a Humira injection the day of the surgery. My Rheum seemed happy enough and said she was pleased to hear that, and that was in line with current thinking ' and she said 'good for ..... .... he's keeping up to date'.
Er I'm not sure though, immune system etc. what do you guys think?

All surgeons work differently Gina, some like you to stop your meds as they think it interferes with the healing process. While some think it's best to continue to stop any further problems such as a flare.
I've done both, I just go along with the surgeons preferences.
Strangely enough no, whether I stopped meds or not my RA remained the same.
When I've stopped meds in the past it's usually 2 weeks before surgery and 2 weeks after surgery. MTX and some other Anti-tnf's stay in the system for a few weeks or even months some of them. So stopping for 4 weeks doesn't really disrupt treatment, it didn't for me anyway.
