Low white cell count last week so missed a week of mtx. Due to take it tonight but cant get head off pillow today as so dizzy. I think this is due to the prozac I have started taking for depression. Do you guys think I should restart mtx today or leave it till dizziness goes?

There is no harm in missing MTX a couple of times when you are not well. It might be a good idea to wait for advice from your GP or Rheumatologist before you carry on with the MTX.

You do need to find out what is causing the dizziness. And I seem to remember that antidepressants can take several weeks to have any effect.

Hope you feel better soon.

Hi - do you know if your white cell count has returned to normal yet? What was it last week when tested low? The reason I ask is because I have suffered from white counts with both MTX and leflunomide, and in fact in my latest result my white count has dropped from 6.2 to 3.5 in the past 4 weeks! However GP doesn't seem to think this is a problem despite the problems I've had before.

I have been feeling a it under the weather over the past week with low count though, and a bit dizzy myself, so could be if your count is still low that's the cause? I'm trying to decide whether or not to take my MTX tomorrow too despite GP saying it's fine to as I don't really want to go any lower than 3.5!

My white cell count was 3.1 but now 4.2 so doc says its safe to try mtx again. I felt dreadful when white cell count low, but this is different. Like being really sea sick. The prozac can cause dizziness and ive only been on it since thursday so its probably the cause. Could be low bp though so I think i will withhold mtx tonight and discuss with gp tomorrow.

Thanks for advice.

Low blood pressure and low wbc count would both cause dizziness.. seek advice from your GP x
