Slendertone belts - are they any good?

I'm desperately trying to tone up flabby tummy, exercising is difficult with sore joints and bad back so I thought one of these belts would be a good choice for me. Has anyone tried one and if so, do they actually work?!

Sorry I can't speak for the belts because I always assumed they would be useless. What I find brilliant though is swimming. I swim for 40 minutes 3 times a week and it really helps with my pain, stiffness and lifts my mood. X

Hello, long time since I've seen you on here, how are you? I've got a Slendertone belt, used it a lot when I first got it, as is always the case with these things I don't use it so much now. However, I got it as I am unable to do sit ups and there are times when even walking is too painful so I got it for those days I'm stuck in doors. I found it did work, not lots, but enough to stop me feeling all flabby. I am sure if I had used it daily or as per the instructions I would have got better results. In fact I should start to use it again. Hospitals actually use them for rehabilitation for patiants that are unable to move easily. x

Hi ya Mel, I'm not too bad thanks, cold and wet here which doesn't help and as always I'm tired, tired, tired! Hope you're managing ok? It's my birthday next week so I thought I could treat myself to a belt, thought it might make me feel better about myself ;) Have sown the seeds to my other half so will see what happens! x

I am thinking of getting one. I'm lucky in that I can exercise most days. I cycle or walk to work (just a little over a mile) and keep my weight down but no matter what I do I cannot get a toned tummy. I beginning to wonder if I actually have any stomach muscles lol. Even before I got RA I used to do sit ups to no avail. Can't do sit ups now as they hurt my back. The only thing that puts me off is the price so like you I would like to know if they work.

Yup they work! - got my waist back from a horrific [60mg prednisilone] 42 inches - to a current 29 inches. I have lower spine deterioration and nerve damage that make sit-ups or crunches not possible. Money well spent - health wise and definitely for self esteem:-)

You need to use it at least 4-5 times a week but it's quick and easy (velcro) to put on and I used it whilst sitting watching tv or lying down reading.

Thanks Cece, I wanted to get feedback from real people rather than rely on the online reviews - I'm glad to hear it'd be pennies well spent! x

Obv I lost the steroid weight as well but high dose steroids cause a distended abdomen and getting a waist back seemed a challenge!

Which one do you have? There are a few to choose from and they seem to vary in price but not so much in what they do!

As long as you use the belt regularly, it should work. It helped in defining my abs. But I combine it with exercise as well. Not sure if it will be as effective without. I am in the UK and got mine super cheap at slendertonesystemabs.co.uk. Don't know if they post to America.
