Has anyone tried Certolizumab Pegol? I've been diagnosed with inflammatory arthritis - but the medication seems to be the same as for RA.

I've been on Prednisolone for 3 years and would like to reduce it.

Hi there,

RA is one of the diseases that fall under the general heading of inflammatory arthritis. Others are psoriatic arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis, and the treatments have lots of similarities.

I guess you might not be in UK? I think C-Pegol is an anti-TNF treatment which tend not to be the first thing offered in England? But anyway, chances are that if it works you'll be able to come off the predinisolone.

Thanks for info. I am in UK, so maybe it is starting to be used here.

Hi

C -pegol common name is cimizia and is an anti tnf treatement.

I agree with helix that it is used to treat anti flam arthritis including chrones which is inflammation in the gut area.

Hope that helps,

Sci x

Hi Mary Read,

I've been on Cimzia (Certolizumab-Pegol) since March this year, so still in the early stages. It's anti-TNF and can be used in RA, and Chron's.

You can find more on their website cimzia.com/ and arthritisresearchuk.org/def...

The Anti-TNF is to slow down the progression of the arthritis which ultimately should see the symptoms reducing and you being able to reduce the steroids. You will probably have a counselling session to discuss the treatment.

Good luck x
