6 years ago I dislocated and broke my right shoulder. NHS said that the fracture had healed correctly and I had months of physio and guided steroid injections while the pain and lack of movement got progressively worse. Bit of a catalogue of errors but eventually I ended up seeing an excellent specialist, privately. 3 years ago he performed surgery for a full thickness rotator cuff tear where he used a REGENETEN PATCH. Amazing results. 20 months ago my left shoulder RC tore, and last year he did a similar operation. Unfortunately this failed, but it was repeated at Christmas and 10 weeks in the signs are good. At long last I'm allowed to drive this week! In both instances the long head bicep tendon detached as well and due to severe cramping were re attached. It is not a pleasant operation, with a long recovery but, touch wood, it is well worth it. Given the state of my tendons from RA, shoulder replacements would have been an easier option, but the movement range would have been restrictive. Good luck x

Glad your on the mend ,my specialist won't operate on anyone over seventy ,he said the op doesn't work because of thinning of tissue ect ,I had injections 6 months ago only helped slightly, they were not done by guide, I see him in April hopefully he can do something as so painful ,the excersise is also to painful to do

That's strange about not operating on people over 70 Surely it should depend on the person and how their shoulder is and their general medical situation?!

What specialist said op not was very successful on over seventies,I'll have to ask why x

I had a rotor cuff injury but not torn. I had treatment on it by my osteopath and rested it as much as I could being my dominant arm and eventually it healed. I still have to be careful though as once damaged it is easy to hurt again.

Similar experience to me. My physio said that time is the best healer but this can take 18 months or more.

yes, fell over and torn my rotary cuff , had physio and slipped in the bath and made it soooooooo much worse

Eventually after well over a year they gave me a Steriod injection which worked for about 5ish weeks and now back to square one and it’s agony 😖😖

Waiting for over 4 months for more physio 😔now

Yes both of mine. Best thing that worked for me was a guided steroid shot into both shoulders. Had it done about 3 years ago...still good. Tears are so painful!

I have had a tear very recently and it has just been left to heal. I also have degeneration in the shoulder joint I believe it does take time I waited a few months for physio but it was probably healing then. I am now doing lots of physio My shoulder only hurts when I'm doing those! Having had RA for 50 years I have become ambidextrous

Hope you're pain reduces soon
