Sevodyne patches

I'm just wondering if anyone has tried these patches? I had to go to out of hours doctor as I'm having a flare and he prescribed these. I had never had of them but he said he's been prescribing them since 2016. I'm interested to know if anyone on here has had them and weather they found them good. Hope your all having the best day you can.

I'm on Butec patches which I believe are the same , buprenorphine, just a different brand. I have 20ugs/hour as I have been on them for quite a few years and have needed to increase the dose as my pain has increased. I am on them for severe back pain, and spinal stenosis. I find them much better than tablets as they give a constant release of analgesia without the peaks and troughs.

Thank you for replying I'm just starting them and on 5mg so hopefully they will bring some relief. I was on codeine but they made me feel sick the doctor said the same as you that you don't peaks and troughs because they are constant.

They are buprenorphine patches…..they can be quite effective but be very careful when you want to come off them…discuss that with your doctor.

I had dreadful withdrawal symptoms when I came off 10mg patches.,

Thank you for your reply and advice. I will consult the doctor before I come off them.

I was on 5mcg for 2 weeks. Now 10mcg which I have to trial for 4 weeks. Effect cumulative apparently. Not really noticed any change. I also have the fast acting ‘tablets’ which dissolve under your tongue. I can’t tolerate codeine because of bowel issues but so far ok with this drug.

Hope you notice a difference soon

I’ve tried a low dose and found them to be quite effective however they made me sweat profusely and I ended up with the most awful sweat rash which I needed cream to resolve. I used them for a while but kept getting the rash so went back to fentanyl as I don’t have any side effects with those. I hope they help you, docs are more likely to prescribe those than fentanyl as I usually have a fight to get them when I’m in dire straits until they see what a mess I’m in.

I've had no side effects so far early days though. Hope you manage to get fentanyl if that works best for you

Hello, I’ve been on these patches since June and find them very good. Initially I had to take oramorph as a top up until the correct dosage was found. I now have 20 mcg and have had no side effects at all. 10 years ago I had these for a neck injury and like others say be careful how you stop using them. I took it upon myself to just stop and had an awful 10 days with what can only be explained as withdrawal, shaking, sweating and feeling sick. Fingers crossed for you they work 🤞😊

Hi Chance_chance

I've used these in 20mcg size previously and they gave me the sweats really bad. I'm quite susceptible to having side effects and had to lower my dose of morphine as there is only BuTrans I can tolerate. It doesn't cover my pain for spine & lack of left shoulder but I use other meds too. Maybe trial & error with you. Be aware if you drive you have to carry the latest prescription sheet with you as its a controlled drug. It would show up in Police roadside drug tests.

Good luck xx
