I have had a persistent cough and sore throat with some upper back pain radiating to the front under the ribs. This has been 2 weeks. GP checked my lungs and said they sounded clear. I started Methotrexate injections almost 3 months ago. I took my injection last Monday despite feeling unwell and wonder now if I should have paused it until I felt better. Due to have next Methotrexate injection tonight, I have left messages on Nurse helpline and an email to NRAS helpline, however it is Christmas Eve, Eve!

coughing and sore throat on Methotrexate injections - should I not take Methotrexate injection tonight

If you hear nothing from the rheumatology team today go to your pharmacist for advice. Hope you feel better soon and can enjoy Christmas.
I would skip a week as it won’t make much difference because Mxt builds up gradually so takes a while before it drops enough to make a difference. I’m the same at the moment with a cough and sore throat. I’m taking cold remedies and the paracetamol does help with any pain I have. If you’re worried definitely ask your pharmacist .
I didnt realize you coupd skip a fose of methotrexate wothout consequences, was told must do the methotrexate injections exactly same day each week?
I certainly can. If I go away for a week I always miss a dose. Normally the dose should always be on the same day to avoid overdosing if you were to forget and take it early.
I have constant sore throats as part of my rheumatoid condition. I find warm salt gargle eases eases the pain a little . Hope you can enjoy Christmas
Agree about missing a dose in case it's an infection as others have said 1 week isn't a problem. Also at times I get laryngitis at times, which I treat with steam inhalations, half spoon of honey, hot drinks, at times honey and lemon drinks.
Obviously if not improving then try RA advice line or if not open due to holiday , try 111?
Just out of interest, maybe you have GERD, has your GP mentioned that? I’ve had it for many years and the symptoms are identical to what you are describing. Maybe not, but it’s worth a Google and another chat to your GP anyway.
I also had gallstones and my symptoms were so severe I had my gallbladder removed, but I still get GERD and am also on a low dose of PPI’s. I struggle to take steroids as well as they exacerbate the issue, so I always have an injection from my Rheumatologist instead as it bypasses the stomach.
