Hello everyone, not posted for a while, so here goes. I started injecting Humira fortnightly in July. I also take MTX. For the last few weeks I have been experiencing stabbing pains in my thigh, also numbness in my lower leg. I have read about this on Dr Google, which I know is probably not a good idea. It has frightened me to death. Anyone else experienced these symptoms. Thank you.
Humira: Hello everyone, not posted for a while, so here... - NRAS
Humira
I think you may have two posts on here re this. Sounds unlikely the Humira is causing your leg pains so best to get checked out with your healthcare provider.
You may have problems with your spine or legs which have nothing to do with your drug - we do get stuff going on other than RA - so worth having your pain investigated and resolved.
If you want to be frightened to death carry on reading the inaccurate and often misleading algorithms on ‘Dr Google’ which pass as medical advice. If you read enough of them you’ll realise they all copy each other………
The only time to consult the internet is when you actually have a diagnosis from a trained medic and you need to consolidate information from reputable and peer-reviewed websites -other than that buyer beware!!
Best of luck and hope you get your aches and pains relieved very soon.
Thank you for your good advice. I now realise I posted this twice, but can't delete the first one. 😱
It will take a long time for your system to get used to Humira, but it will eventually. It took me a year, but the medicine is marvellous now, it was worth waiting and not switching to anything else. Can you tell me, any problems getting this from the doctor in Spain? I'm moving back very soon. Thanks.
It could be a number of things and you need to speak to your GP. I have had hip pain and physio helped me, mine is OA.My hubby had hip pain and numbness in legs and it was back problem. I inject with Humira ( stopped MXT because of side effects). I have not had any problems with it.
sounds like it’s nerve related, probably inflammation pressing on a nerve. You should see a dr about this though. It’s unlikely the humira causing it. I agree with amnesiac3637 that Dr Google is best avoided, unless you have a diagnosis, then affiliated websites can be helpful. I suspect one of the things you read about is cauda equina, if you have numbness in the saddle area, or issues with controlling bowels or bladder then you need an urgent review.
Thanks everyone for your replies, I have made an appointment to see my doctor.
You need to see you dr asap my experience with humira led to a deep rooted abscess that needed strong antibiotics. I'm not trying to scare you but you just don't know what the issue is so you need to check it out immediately. Biological medication is trial and error until 1 is found to suit you xx
