sudden on set of pain.

Hi everyone

Hope my post finds you ok

Further to my previous post here I started my increased dose of hydroxy 4 days ago.

I’ve had a lot of stress and been upset the last couple of days around a number of things, and I realise that doesn’t help physically. Generally I feel down

I have this morning woken with rather severe pain I think it’s the top of my hips ..so much so I'm moving rather tentatively. I’ve taken ibuprofen but it’s not really helped which is unusual as I don’t take painkillers often and therefore they usually help when I do. Movement hurts when I move in bed and generally aches all the time from sides to back ,so im thinking it’s to do with rheumatoid A

Anyone experience similar

all good wishes

I don’t know but sounds like it might be an injury. If I were you I’d try to keep mobile so it doesn’t lock up and put some Deep Freeze or ice on the area. It could be an idea to ring GP on Monday or contact an Oestopath if you’ve tweaked a nerve. I hope it feels better soon but I’d go the Oestopath route as mine is young Italian with a voice like chocolate and like most Italians is into food so good for recipes from his mum. Plus he’s very good. lol xx

It’s very enticing to go that route hearing about your lovely Osteopath 😆

I hear what you’re saying it just doesn’t feel like an injury, it’s more of an ache , I’m not great at explaining either which doesn’t help. 🙄

I don’t actually have an Osteopath, I’ve no doubt it would be difficult to get one (especially one like yours 😆)until I see consultant in November ..im hoping the pain disappears and it’s like a stress thing ..it kinda feels like a rheumy pain .

Hurts more on lying down and moving when lying down.

I really appreciate your reply, realise we aren’t medics here and only medics can tell us. Just wondered if anyone had experienced similar ..it does coincide with the increase of hydroxy from 200 to 400 l wondered what rheumatoid in hips is like and maybe it’s that ..

maybe another ibuprofen will help now I will try that 😊

When I had a horrid pain in hip, it really hurt so thought cracked it. So went to A&E it was shingles and it’s easy to think everything is RA related but keep an open mind and if no better by Monday please call your GP. I’ve never had any other pain in hips so don’t know if RA affects the hips. Xx

Thank you medway-lady thats a good point, thinking everything is RA related. Just being diagnosed it is foremost in my mind. It could be coincidence and this is nothing to do with it. Yes will keep an open mind seems like a good idea to me and if no better by Monday will call GP

Best wishes to you !

The more you lie down the more you will stiffen up & & feel pain.Believe me if you had osteoarthritis in your hips….you wouldn’t wonder- you would know.

Pop your coat on & take a gentle walk…meet someone & have a chat…I bet you will feel better!

Hi medway-lady, how did you manage to get on the oestopath list?

It’s a private practice but I think does some NHS. It’s not that expensive and worth every penny. If you’re around Medway or in Kent I can recommend a practice we’ve used for years. I think they may do some NHS physio as well as private but I’ve never tried to see one on the NHS. I think when in joint pain I avoid GP and painkillers but see an Osteopath first. So I go private rather than wait for relief. My sister in law went for months to an NHS physio via GP it didn’t help her back pain but the Osteopath sorted it in 3 visits by stretching and manipulating. It might not work for some people but it’s worth a try to avoid taking pain medications unnecessarily for long periods.

Thanks medway-lady. Unfortunately, I live in Hampshire. I have an open referral to NHS physio, who were excellent when I first fractured my spine. My physio sent me for hydrotherapy. Will search online for a local osteopath. Many thanks and take care x

I hope you can our GP has a list on their website of Osteopaths and Physio's but all are private I dont think we even get physio's here anymore. My hospital doesn't have hydrotherapy but the other one does but I've never tried it. Does it work ?

It did for me. I managed to fall in the middle of the night. Fortunatetly, I was already seeing a physio when this happened as I had great difficulty standing up straight, and balance was up the spout, and had fractured my spine falling, he referred me to hydrotherapy with the NHS. Our local hospital has an hydrotherapy pool and equipment. It worked miracles, and I had 1to1 support. If you are ever asked if you would like to try it say 'yes'.

hip area pain could be a lot of things, maybe you’ve had a restless night because of stress and tweaked a nerve? Definitely get it checked out if it doesn’t improve over time. Heat or ice might help. Painkillers work best when taken regularly, not just once or twice. I hope it improves quickly 🤞🏻

I’m no medic but I think rheumatoid prefers knees! Anyway could be 1,000 things so seek professional advice.

I'm well controlled now with Enbrel, but when I was at my worst, it was wrists, knees, hips, and shoulders. Almost like the song! Now when I have the occasional flare, the hips do grumble sometimes.

hurts more lying down…..

That’s exactly like mine and I too attribute all new pain to my rheumatoid condition however a trip to GP ( actual f2f appointment offered) resulted in script for Naproxen and PPi which I used sparingly and got relief. That was a few weeks ago and the pain is rumbling away ready to explode again so not cured but calmed and I have meds at the ready this time. I found keeping gently active helped or seemed to. Biggest issue was not being able to get dressed as unable to bend forward. Heat pad also useful. Good luck keep warm

Hi  Stills

Yes bending forwards does hurt. Getting dressed is the uncomfortable one for me too. Thanks for reply. Appreciate it

I can’t help thinking it’s all RA , it’s kinda all new to me and foremost in my mind so I totally understand your thinking too.

Were you stressed before the pain came on, maybe the stress has caused extra pain. Stress has a lot to answer for if you have underlying conditions

Extremely stressed and anxious lupus_01

A couple of things going on unfortunately that are stress and anxiety provoking ,,yes your so right about stress having a lot to answer for.

Will see how I am over next day or so.

Thank you
