how do other people cope with taking numerous pills

like many rheum suffers I also have a number of other issues which involves taking a lot of medication. I have peripheral neuropathy in my fingers and find picking up my tablets is a nightmare as I can’t always feel them. As it happens my ra medication isn’t a problem as they come in rather a large size (when I collected my sulpha for the first time, I wasn’t sure which end to put them). My medication ranges in size from the lozenge of sulpha to another one that is smaller than an artificial sweetener which has me feeling around on the floor in competition with my dog for first dibs. Any advice would be most welcome.

I dispense (or my husband does) mine into a pill box then they only have to be tipped into the palm of my hand each time. Blister packs I just hold over each day so they go in just that one, bottled ones get tipped into the lid or a small bowl, I’ve also used large tweezers to pick up tiny tablets in the past. . Of course this may not work for you but you could always speak to your GP about getting a dosset box from your pharmacy which will negate the need for you to fiddle with any of them. I hope you find a solution.

My darling hubby puts mine into tablet boxes(for want of a better word) then as each dose comes i put the said dosage into one of those little cap things that you put medicine into then i put them straight into my mouth and then jobs done. Go to your chemist and ask them for the plastic bottle tops that is for liquid medicine and they will happily supply you with some. xxx

I have most of my meds in a blister pack that is provided by the pharmacy. I just open the window and tip them out. I call it my advent calendar! 😂 When I take my morning and bedtime ones I use a squishy cushion and make a divet for them to go in so they don’t roll off. Sounds a palaver but it works. The problem I have is pushing the pain tablets out of the packet. I found a very small spoon that helps with this. It can be hard to pick up the small ones though and know the feeling with trying to find a tablet if it falls before the dog gets it!! 😂😂

You're chemist can put them up in sachets so you don't actually have to handle boxes/ containers yourself.

Hi Miasnana, sorry can't help have same problem myself and know many others who do . Did not know they could be dispensed differently by chemist. My problem is caused by arthritic joints, poor sight and an hand tremor . Thank you for post it has produced a sensible possibility to groping on the floor.

I put mine in a dosset box. You can get your pharmacy to do this for you.

I have auto immune conditions and suffer from the same issues you describe.

In the evening I put up todays evening meds and tomorrow mornings.

I find this far enough in front.

My mild OCD meant that I was constantly checking/rechecking,sorry I’ve not got anything more constructive to offer .

The tablet situation drives me daft, when Drs ask how I go on with medication,I reply that it’s a mare, but I struggle on.

No useful response,so. I carry on doing what works for me.
