Hi 🙂 I had to buy a front fastening bra because I had a lumpectomy. I chose the ones from Asda.

My RA hands couldn't fasten the ones from M&S.

I use Simply be for my mum’s non underwired bras. Not sure if they do front fastening. Mum is on the large side and finds them comfortable.

I sometimes with a back fastening bra do not put the straps on but fasten it at the front around my middle then pull it around so the fastener is at the back

slip the straps over my arms and pull it up in place.

Not very good for the bra perhaps but has worked for me when I could not reach the back.

I do not propose to offer a video of this technique!

I’ve done it this way since my teens as diagnosed with RD at 17

I've never been able to fasten my bra at the back. Always used your technique.

I never reach behind to fasten either, I always fasten at the front then swivel. Even from when I first wore one age 12.

MnS do some very comfortable crop top type bras or bralets and in my case I can pull them on over my hips if my shoulders hurt to much to make the necessary movement to get them on over my head. There are many sports/exercise bra tops that are front fastening too and have you thought about nursing bras, front fastening, and comfortable .

ABC 110 bra at woman-zone are very comfortable

hi I find Uniqlo bra tops very comfortable. A combination bra and top that I step into and pull up. Amazed how good they feel as nothing cuts into me but am supported. I buy their largest size.

the topic of comfy easy to fasten bras is a constant talking point among my RA friends. I have bought quite a few front fastening ones from Amazon. The clips can be a little awkward at first especially if your hand are stiff but there are a lot of styles to choose from. Not sure if there are non wired styles. I’m also aware of a company that do a magnetic front fastening style but I can’t remember the website.

Tu at Sainsburys do a Black Seamless Stretch Zip Front Crop Top. With arthritic fingers I find it difficult to do up but if I fasten it around waist first and then pull it up it's ok. It's not very supportive but extremely comfortable, especially when I had to wear it at night after a lumpectomy.

Also…Amoena do some good ones. More expensive but if you can catch a sale they're very reasonable.

If you have arthritic fingers you may find a long row of hooks and eyes up the front worse! A zip front sports bra may be the answer and I expect M&S will have one. ☝️

Thank i think this is the way forward for me my fingers are dire lately

Zips are very difficult with my arthritic fingers unless I do up around the waist, which is a bit easier, and then pull into place.

Ah. The dreaded bra. In de early days i basically stopped wearing bras. Just settled for fitting and tight camisole tops. I have big breasts so it was horrible. But used chunky sweaters, and started pairing blouses with the sleeveless vests, like the type men wear under their suit jackets. I also bought a sports bar or two which were 2 sizes too big so thwt they were easy to wear. Now i can mostly wear my regular bras again. But on flare days or just bad days, i like sports bras with a front zip. I attached one of those keychain rings to the zip to make it easier to pull up.

That’s a good idea.

I find the padded spots bras work for me no fasteners. But I have arthritis in my hands so no bra would be easiest for me. I found front fasteners popped open but I have never tried the ones with zips at the front have to admit. Test different ones till you find perfection then stick to that make. Good luck

Hi there Vonnie 🩷

Have a look at Damart’s website. Two pack of cotton bras. In black, white and small florals. Or can buy individually. Unwired styles and unpadded. Straps are quite wide but many of the front closing ones do have wide shoulder straps like part of a vest top. I saw these recently myself but haven’t bought any, but might do. Also Miss Mary of Sweden make some attractive cotton ones, but a bit pricier at around £45. xx

hi

I’ve have dreadful RA shoulders which slope badly now. I’ve trawled for front fastening and a racer back bras. I am delighted with my find on Amazon of Melenca bras with easy front fastening clip and racer straps. They are even pretty and very comfortable. Wash well in a net bag and many colours. Not expensive so really well worth a try. Good luck

Are the Meleneca bras underwired?

All my life i have done it from the front twist it around however hands are so weak im finding it impossible just thought a front one would be easy on my hands.

SingingJay profile image
SingingJay in reply toVonnie10

That’s what I thought but I’m afraid that neither hook and eyes or zips are particularly easy. I’ve seen some Velcro fastening ones but haven’t tried them yet. theablelabel.com/collection...

I'm the same, I don't have the strength in my fingers to twist it around. Hubby does mine mostly, although it was quite funny at first....he claimed he only knew how to Unfasten a bra! 😂

I don't wear the things anymore.

Just tight fitting vests under a t shirt in summer but hard to get on and off sometimes. Autumn/winter I let them hang down to my knees under a t shirt and fleece.
