So, my markers are all normal but my liver is slightly up from what they’d like. Otherwise everything looks normal, but my hands are still stiff and painful in the morning so they’re going to ultrasound them to see what’s going on. FUN. But i am pleased otherwise all looks ok, because it has been a 2 year journey to get to that point…yay for drugs, haha! Xxx

hi

Hope you’re doing ok.

What are your liver figures? Are they tolerable?

My GP frets over my AST/ALT though elevated still within safe levels

Can’t remember off the top of my head, but the consultant probably will want to try something else because it’s the sulphasalazine affecting it, but also because my hand stiffness is ongoing. It’s all v boring and I probably should have had more blood tests since April. Thing is, the nurse sent me my results and asked if i’d had a drink before the blood test but it was at 9am and I was so offended!!! My RA flares up if I drink so i don’t really and that’s on my notes!

Ahh I see.

I must admit I only have a glass of wine or a beer one day a week now so get annoyed when the first question asked is how much do I drink .

When I had sulfasalazine, it upset my blood results so much I had to come off it. I also had very stiff hands with it but everything else was so much better I wasn’t complaining. However I was then moved to biologics and am currently enjoying a new world where all symptoms are kept at bay, apart from occasional flares. Day to day I feel normal which is amazing. Hopefully you will now be on a path to biologics too as it was sulfasalazine ‘failing’ that made me a candidate for them. Good luck!

Ooh that’s really interesting, thank you!!

You need to have two ‘failures’ to qualify and mine counted as methotrexate alone (I’m still on top dose alongside biologic but it’s not effective enough alone) and sulfasalazine. So that sounds similar to you. Hope your hands are ok, sounds painful x

Thanks. It wakes me up in the night sometimes because they’ve stiffened up and when they move it hurts? But it is what it is. Hopefully they’ll try me on something else. The Metho did NOT agree with me, either.
