I had one many years ago. It wasn't painful and nowhere near as bad as I feared. The only hicup I had was at the end when they lifted me from the treatment couch back to my ward bed....the tube snagged and got yanked from my groin. It took some time to stop the bleeding but it was no big deal. I believe they no longer use an artery in the groin to insert the catheter but somewhere in the arm instead.
i had one last year via the wrist. It was “ouchy” rather than painful and quite fun watching the screen so I don’t recall any anaesthetic.
Worst bit was they insisted on shaving me - badly - to make sure that could access artery in my groin in case of any problems (maybe not an issue for young people 😁). So itching worse than catheter in wrist.
I shall definitely be watching it’s all fascinating they did say to prepare the groin but it will probably be the wrist. Rituximab infusion tomorrow so many needles 🤣 thanks for reply x
