diagnosed 9 years ago and up until 6 months ago the medication has controlled it.

Apart from the pain, the feeling of my legs going numb and being unable to sit or walk for any length is time is quite difficult.

Any suggestions.

Thanks

You really need to contact your rheumatologist, if you don’t contact them they’ll assume you’re doing well. Sorry but we can’t advise you on what will help you, your rheumy is best qualified to find out what’s going on and treat you.

Thanks Kitty, my methotrexate has been increased to 20 mg and I know it can take quite a few weeks to feel the benefit. I just wondered if anyone has experienced this numbness. I hope to have a hospital appointment in August.

I had at the very start of my RA very heavy legs and numbness and found it hard work to walkkk no or stand. Treacle walking. For me I was told part of the process but I did mention to the RA team to get that response. I think I tried TENS and hot water bottles and ice packs but head is telling me did not work as I can’t remember now.

Thanks Deeb1764, helpful to know others have experienced similar, I am trying all that you mentioned too. Hot water bottle seems the best supplemented with naproxen.

It’s trial and error for lots of it 🥰

Have you checked you can take methotrexate with Naproxen I was told not to take both

Yes, I have checked I too heard you shouldn’t. Obviously consultants have differences of opinion.

I also heard this but when I said to my nurse that I hadn't been taking naproxen she said they wouldn't advise it regularly long term but regularly for under 6 months or occasional use is fine.

That was the gist of my conversation with the doctor.

You really should mention anything like this to your rheumy team…. Numb feelings anywhere could possibly indicate pressure on nerves…so do give them a ring for advice . If they don’t seem interested ask if you could have nerve conduction tests .
