when I last saw RA dept (nurse) she mentioned that they want to set up a shared care agreement with my GP, and subsequently BB healthcare.
This was as a way of managing my ongoing prescriptions for mtx jabs as a way of reducing admin at the hospital RA dept.
I’ve just had the call, and from now on I should be expecting a pharmacist call ahead of each prescription, and then be able to collect my drugs from my local pharmacy instead of the hospital pharmacy.
Have any of you had a similar set up and are you happy with the arrangements?

I had successful shared care with my previous gp surgery for many years. I have moved in temporarily with my daughter but her house is just out of the area of my old gp so I’ve had to change drs, even though hospital is the same. I’ve been trying since last September to get shared care sorted so that I don’t have to go and pick up my methotrexate. No luck so far but I have just written them a long email telling them that I’ve spoken to rheumatology about filling in the shared care form. I honestly don’t know what else I can do, but I’ll see if the email gets something sorted.
It’s good to see that you’ve had a positive experience of the shared care. It will be easier than heading to the hospital each time. I was just concerned that my bloods/profile won’t be being monitored closely by RA team at the hospital
My Gp does blood tests as part of the local shared care plan. Postcode lottery? Perhaps yours might? I am sure hospital knows importance of blood tests eiither way. Good luck.
I’m on shared care. Been on it for a few years. My GP issues monthly prescription and I pick meds up at local pharmacy. My GP also monitors my three monthly blood tests, and always lets me know results. All ok so far. Not sure what BB healthcare is though? Hope it’s not a new idea that’s going to mess with my smooth system!
Yes, I am on shared care now. It is working very well. My prescriptions have always been sent through to my local chemist for collection so just the same but now we have a 24hr collect from a hole in the wall. This works brilliantly but I know not everyone will have them. I hope yours works well.
I'm also on shared care, works well, my doctor does 3 monthy bloods and issues meds monthly. I do have to make sure my bloods are up to date otherwise doctor will not give R. A . drugs.
I’ve been on a shared care with my GP for years . Works well, it’s called a DAWN program and GP prescribes my meds and does my bloods which are checked by them and RA department. No problems as either hospital or GP alert me if anything wrong with bloods. Hope you get this service x
when I was on metho, I moved to Leicestershire from Wiltshire and the health authority and council here refused to allow a shared care agreement, so had to ask for prescriptions from my rheumy in Bath each time
