Etanercept

Can glaucoma be a side effect of etanercept. I was diagnosed with glaucoma shortly after starting on etanercept in February this year. Maybe the fuzzy eyes have been mistaken for this . I'm hoping it's the side effect and not glaucoma as I now have drops to put in every night. Anyone else had this experience please.

I don't have any experience of this PaliBen13 but I'm just wondering who diagnosed the glaucoma?

The Optometrist at my local clinic gave the diagnosis.

If you only started Etanercept in February you almost certainly already had glaucoma if it’s been diagnosed as such and you’re now on nightly drops. You don’t say how old you are. Have you also developed cataracts? They make your vision fuzzy without glasses but presumably you get your eyes regularly checked.

Definitely check with your rheumatology team so they know as often none of these services speak to each other unless something goes wrong - and sometimes even not then!

Thanks for your reply. I am a 75 year old lady . Both eyes have had cataracts removed a number of years ago. I think maybe I was just fooling myself hoping that the blurred vision was down to the etanercept and not glaucoma .
