I seem to be tired all the time, and fall asleep when I get in from work about 4 pm. Has anyone found a way to alleviate the tiredness.

tiredness
Assuming you’ve got RA and are not just knackered after a day at work? Difficult to give any advice as we have no more info from you but if you are newly diagnosed with RA then it’s a well known and annoying complication of the disease and whilst it remains uncontrolled you may very well be so tired you won’t know which way is up.
If you have RA and it’s a long term thing then you probably need to get checked for iron deficiency anaemia where your iron is not being stored due to inflammatory process. Also think about your mental health - any chance you could be feeling low and therefore tired?
As for alleviating the tiredness which you have asked about it’s probably best to go to your GP/ rheumatologist and find out if you’re brewing something. Make sure you’re not pushing yourself too hard. Your profile says you’re 75 and you’re still working! Is work too much, too pressured, too physical? Do hope you find out what’s making you feel exhausted and get something done.
Well yes, I alleviate tiredness by going to bed quite early most nights (I love my bed) mostly because the television on offer is awful, but that won’t suit everyone. I’m your age, I wake up at 7. 00am and I tend to go to bed at around 9.00 pm at night with a good book unless I’m going out somewhere special.
Seriously though, I would see your GP and ask them to do blood tests ask them to include thyroid, ferritin, folates, vitamins D3 and B12 to make sure you are not anaemic or have anything that could cause you to be tired.
Are you sleeping well and getting enough sleep? If not look at when you go to bed. Are you eating a healthy diet, staying well hydrated by drinking enough water rather than alcohol and getting a daily walk?
I’m your age and I think by our age you do get more tired in the evenings depending on what you’ve been doing although I have to say I never fall asleep as you are describing. How many hours are you working and how tiring is it? Are you working or volunteering? So many things you could look into.
Radio 2 yesterday (4th March) Jeremy Vine/Dr. Sarah Jarvis were talking 'TATT' tired all the time. Sarah mentioned RA. Should be available to listen to on iplayer today.
I had this and I had RA. iron deficiency and vitamin D deficiency. Speak to your doc and they will sort you out.
Make a GP appointment and ask for a blood test
Your first post, Toiletseat? I wonder, what was it made you choose the name you selected?
after years still trying I’m worse when RA active. It’s my worst symptom
I have chronic RD but it’s only these last two years that I’ve been wanting to nap all the time. I sleep badly and a recent leg injury is wearing. I’ve had tests and procedures to rule out cancer throughout 2023 and nine found. My fatigue is combined with unexplained weight loss so I suspected vitamin deficiency or malabsorption of foods possibly linked to stomach acid issues and reflux. Anyway after nothing found in all the nasty scopes they performed my GP has written me off so I’m just accepting this as my new normal. I stopped working during the pandemic so can nap after lunch.
I have severe RA- pain is under control but the chronic fatigue is awful- sometimes I have to lay down after applying lipstick!
I had all the blood & saliva tests - nothing evident as causal.
Integrative dr suggested my RA may have reactivated dormant EB virus causing CFS/ME....
Interesting ; my dr has mentioned autoimmune thyroid and subclinical thyroid but also that I’m not ill enough for further investigation. I think she’s fed up after lots of tests to rule out cancer, none was found. Right at the start I said let’s start with what we know - adult onset stills disease diagnosed 1979 - and go from there. Fatigue is a key symptom but no, she chose to ignore that and plough on regardless. To be honest I’m accepting this as my new normal now, time for a nap 💄
Stills I'm so sad for you! You shouldn't have to accept The Fatigue As being your New Norm!!!!! This Doctor is Lazy and Doesn't Listen to her Patient! This sort of Treatment makes me Nuts!!!!!!!I encourage you to seek your medical care elsewhere as you should not to have to accept her lack of Care and Concern
For what you have to endure. Hippocratic Oath; First I Will Do No Harm. Maybe consider Homeopathic Medicine. Whatever you do I Do hope you are able to find a Good Doc.
Sorry for running off. I'm Just an old hippie chick that takes one Pill. No heart, Sugar, B/P. Nope None. I really hope you do well. We have to be proactive. It's our body . Enjoy your nap Sweetie. Nina.
