Heavy cold

Apologies if this seems quite trivial but I have had a heavy cold for the past 2/3 days which at present is getting worse. Have tested negative for Covid so no concerns about that so I’m just wondering whether to miss my medication tomorrow or whether it won’t make any difference. I take 20mg MTX but no other immune suppressing drugs.

I’m obviously not worried about anything serious & feeling a little silly asking this question but just wondering whether it would help to speed up my recovery if I missed a week as I’m really feeling quite rough with it. My disease has been well controlled for over a year so I’m not concerned about missing a week as I have missed a couple of weeks previously with Covid and when having a tooth extraction.

I’m just not sure whether it will make any difference as strangely I’ve not had a cold of any severity since becoming ill with an inflammatory illness four years ago even though I’ve had Covid where the rules are clearly defined.

Thank you in advance.

I’ve only ever been told to miss taking mtx if I’m on antibiotics for an infection not for a cold.

If it were me I’d ask my doctors because everyone is unique in their treatment needs.

Not silly. If you feel rough you feel rough whatever the cause. I cannot advise you but hope you feel better soon.

Not advice but personally I skip my Methotrexate injection if I'm feeling grotty as I prefer not to add the "hangover" to the mix - probably because I'm a wimp! 😂 I'm also on Hydroxychloroquin and Sulphasalzine (which I never skip) and my RA is well-controlled so I can't tell when I miss a dose or too.

Thank you, it is always a personal decision but seems to make sense as my RA is under control.

I would carry taking your tablets. The best way to get rid of a cold is to rest. I will pray that your cold will go quickly.
