I thought people might be interested in this article from Nature about why autoimmune diseases are more common in women:

"A new explanation for the discrepancy has emerged: a molecular coating typically found on half of a woman’s X chromosomes — but not in males’ cells — might be provoking unwanted immune responses."

Interesting Article maybe explains a bit of why some of us have inflammartory disease too. Thank you Forgot once again seems sex plays a big role in certain diseases and probably causes more visits to the DR 🙂

Thanks so much for posting this very interesting thread. In some ways it’s gives me hope that ongoing research may or may not find a cure but at least it’s being done. As for the cost of such treatments if they’re found to be curative that’s another matter.

That is one of the reasons why I think AI is being overhyped when it comes to medical things. It may find some new causes of disease and maybe even find some treatments, but we are not using the knowledge we already do have to treat people; it seems we just don't have the appetite for it.

Unfortunately I think you’re right. If a treatment which can be specifically modified for an individuals needs becomes available, I think it will be for those that can afford it or at least a postcode lottery in the UK anyway. Hope not but fear so.
