Saw the elbow surgeon yesterday, he's putting me on the waiting list, category P3. Can someone explain what that means, categories were not mentioned when I had neurosurgery and hip replacements.
Thanks.

Why don,’t you call PALS at the hospital you will be having the surgery? NHS Priority lists maybe be different at different hospitals.
Hi thereSorry, I don't know how to attach links, but from what I just googled it seems to apply to the clinical priority decided by the surgeon. Ie, P1 = within 1 month, so P3 = (ideally) within 3 months. The system seems to be numbered from 1-6. I've never come across it before either.
Glad you finally got seen and given the go ahead., and hope the 3 months comes to fruition.
Best wishes😊
Ps. The info was on NHS Engkand under frequently asked questions about surgical prioritisation
Thank you. The surgeon when I asked, initially said a year to wait, to which I replied, 'oh crikey, that long?' He then offered to list me as P3 which I hoped would mean higher up the list and it looks like that is what it means.
I read something yesterday which seemed to refer to waiting lists during Covid, but maybe they are still using that list to get through the backlog. Many thanks.
