I’m from Birmingham too and my rheumatologist seems to have disappeared too!

Was this at the QE? Mine was Dr Narayan. She went off on a sabbatical in August and isn’t back yet. My next appointment is November but it doesn’t say on the letter who I’m seeing, which is unusual.

Don’t dismiss the locum or Registrars because they are usually younger and this is just my opinion but listen more, examine more and there knowledge of medications up to date.

Very good point, after months of being bed ridden in 1979 it was a young locum who suspected Stills and sent me into (old) Addenbrookes hospital where their tests proved her right.

Same here a registrar saved my life never mind treating the RA he found the kidney failure. Pain is one thing, death a higher risk altogether.

I never see the rheumatologist I’m registered with but see a good team of RA nurses and registrars x

I have a lot of empathy with your situation. The same has just happened to me. My consultant was absolutely wonderful. She was my rock and I feel cast adrift now.

I wish I could offer you something more helpful, but I’m afraid all I can say is that I know how you feel and hope you get someone you can relate to before too long. X

I think if you have had a good consultant changing is so stressful and especially if just random locums ie not necessarily wanting to specialise in Rheumatology.

Plus you have had some really complicated issues for quite a while now and the need for some form of stability whilst meds and regimen sorted is crucial 🥰

My named consultant left about a year ago and is still not replaced. I’ve a temp named consultant should I need, but I’ve have been receiving regular contact from both the RA and biologics nursing team. I’ve probably had more and better communication than before!
