I have developed mild hay fever at the ripe old age of 69 (clearly I don’t have enough going on!!). I bought some otc anti-histamine and have taken them for the last 3 days but I’ve felt really awful (pain mostly & worse in the evening). I’m giving them a miss today because I don’t know whether it’s the tablets or hay fever that’s making me feel so bad, but I’d be really interested to know whether anyone else has had these problems?

I have had chronic hayfever all my life…way before RA….it does drag you down…… & I have had hayfever remedies that didn’t work…but none of them have actually made me feel ill….& certainly not painful….. except …..when I got sinus infections with it.
Where are you getting pain?
What antihistamine did you buy?Why don’t you have a word with the pharmacist…& get his opinion …failing any luck there I’d call your rheumy nurse…..maybe it’s a reaction to your RA meds!
I just hurt from head to toe and then in addition can’t get warm in the evening.
I did ask the chemist’s advice as I have a heart condition too but as I’ve come off all the RA meds I didn’t mention that. He recommended Cetirizine dihydrochloride. I’ve checked all the side effects and there’s nothing relevant but as you know not everyone with RA reacts the same.
