Methofill

Like others I was given Methofill instead of Metoject by my pharmacy for the first time this week. After reading posts from others and reading in the enclosed leaflet that it should not be used without training I contacted my GP and the Rheumatology helpline. Prompt and helpful response from both! GP has recently altered my prescription and omitted to specify Metoject so he has amended it and issued another prescription. Rheumatology nurse said that I shouldn't use the methofill, the service (Surrey and Sussex NHS Trust) only uses and trains patients to use metoject. I have returned the methofill to the Pharmacy and picked up the metoject this morning. Worth checking that your prescription does actually specify metoject to avoid the same thing happening to you! I hope this is helpful.

I use Methofill which is very easy and painless. Simply take off the needle cover squeeze your flesh, stick it in and plunge the top. Just as easy as the Metoject which I used to use. I had no training. They ran short of the Metoject and gave me the Methofill and I stuck to it as I actually preferred it.

same thing happened to me when they couldn’t get metoject I had methofill and found it easy to use. I had my repeat prescription changed to say either methotrexate pens so always able to get my meds. and now use what is available.

yes this also happened to me and I contacted the pharmacy who changed it. I’ve asked the doctor to specify on my repeats the I want Methojet. I wonder why this is suddenly shooing. And if Methofill is cheaper or more widely available at the moment. What a waste with so many of us returning it!
