Hello to everyone on this site. I have never posted before as I have just discovered how to post/reply. Thank you to everyone, I find peoples post so helpful in every way. I’m sorry I haven’t been able to sympathise with many of you but when reading about your posts please believe when I say that I am very sorry for you difficulties and pain.

I have had RA for two and a half years now and it has never been under control, so daily life v hard. I have a wonderful family and grandchildren who help me focus on the positives. I am about to start baricitinib on Monday and am just double checking that we take baricitinib on the same day as methotrexate, we don’t miss a day.

Thank you, I hope you all have a wonderful day.

Hi Crispie and welcome, I’m sorry I don’t know if you can take both meds together. You’ll need to check with your rheumy or nurse but hope your new med works very well for you. Best of luck.

Thank you for your reply, I have emailed the rheumy team, but thought I may not get reply back in time and I know people here have a wealth of knowledge.

Hi Crispie, so glad you found out how to post/reply. Sorry I can’t help with your question, as NK said you need to speak to your doctors, 🤞🏻 for you to get good results from baricitinib

hopefully they will get back to you soon, we can’t give medical advice but you could ask a pharmacist.

Sorry I don’t know the answer either but you could try phoning the pharmacist at whichever company supplies it. I imagine it’s a very common combination and pharmacists are very knowledgeable (usually even more so than doctors) when it comes to drug interactions and the best way to take drugs.

I take Upadacitinib, which is a JAK Inhibitor similar to Baracitinib. I take one tablet orally each day, including my Methotrexate day. They are very compatible medications and are meant to be taken together. Best to check with pharmacy, however, to be sure.

Hi Crispie, I've been on Baricitinib for 4 years and have always taken it the same day as Methotrexate (no-one has ever said not to) I hope you get on with it as well as I did🙂

As others have said, I’d talk to your pharmacist x

Hi Crispie, nice to hear from you.I took Baricitinib several years ago along with Leflunomide as I don't tolerate methotrexate well, but methotrexate was my rheumatologists first choice.

Baricitinib is taken as an oral daily medication 7 days a week. So yes I took it on the same day as MTX.

Best to check with your team through.

Thank you Helen, the team at NRAS are fantastic and I have spoken to them a couple of times. I have a medicine hotline number for my hospital which I rang and the pharmacist rang me back and gave me all the information about the drug I needed he was very helpful.
