NRAS are a partner on a Digital Rheumatology project to improve patient care by empowering people with Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) or Adult JIA (AJIA) to record and report their own assessments of their disease via a Citizen Health Wallet (smart phone app).

Digital Rheumatology is a collaborative partnership and part of an NHS Improvement QLab (Quality Lab) Project 2023 funded by The Health Foundation. This project is phase II of ongoing work and will include testing the feasibility of the Citizen Health Wallet in a simulated environment in order to collaboratively collect insights for this work to improve patient care and outcomes. This will involve a number of patient volunteers in filling in remote patient reported outcome measures (PROMs) which are questionnaires about your health and messaging a theoretical team for help when needed in a simulated environment.

This will not replace your usual care from your own rheumatology team.We hope to demonstrate that the Wallet will enable better symptom tracking, patient engagement with their own healthcare, supported self-management provision, shared decision making and access to urgent care when needed. To successfully test these elements, we need a further 10 patient volunteers who have RA or Adult JIA who would be interested to get involved in the testing of the Wallet app over a 3-month period – There will be compensation for your time:

- Test Wallet app in simulation mode via a modern smart phone (less than 6 years old)

- Connect via the app to a range of care and support services: NRAS, NHS Rheumatology teams, Community pharmacists

- Fill in questionnaires (PROMS)

- Report theoretical symptoms/receive theoretical advice via the app

- Focus Groups

- May: Orientation, training sessions and practical demonstrations

- June: Reflective sessions: Patient and Clinicians

Please register your interest in becoming a patient volunteer by sending an email to sallym@nras.org.uk by April 7th. Once you have confirmed interest in contributing to this study, you will be sent a consent form to participate.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

As today is 6 April & many may already be away for the Easter Holiday, maybe for those wishing to apply, the date of 7 April could be adjusted?
