Yes I was unwell on it so changed to Rosuvastatin but I only need to take it every other day. It's fine.

my cholesterol is 5.7 , I had conflicting advice from different GPS one said my good cholesterol is low and I do not need statins and the other said to take them regardless as I have RA.but my Rhummy consultant said I do not need them 🤷‍♀️

Some doctors seem to have gone for the 'your cholesterol level should be as low as possible' mantra. Others who think more clearly recognise that your body needs some cholesterol to do quite a few chemical processes. And there seems little differentation between 'total cholesterol' and 'HDL cholesterol' and 'LDL cholesterol' when advising patients. In an arbitary fashion the level above which you are advised to take statins has been reduced and it seems everyone over a certain age is eligible for statins. I can't help being sceptical that this is a device to boost the profits of pharmaceutical companies.

Do your own research and decide for yourself whether the small gains over ten years is worth taking another medication. Mind you statins do have some anti-inflammatory effect as well!

Hi. I’m just waiting for my next visit to my GP (not that I intend going anytime soon) and him to tell me I need statins. I agree, someone is making a fortune out of this. Yes, some people may well need them but I’d rather keep to a healthy diet than go on another medication. Nic xx

Why don’t you speak to the doctor who prescribed the statin & ask to change the type of statin…but first I’d stop them for a few days & see if the symptoms continue…..if they do….then definitely see the doc to to find out the cause.

I have been on atorvastatin for 30+ years with no problems….but simvastatin did not suit me at all.
