Bras!

I have been told I am in remission with my RA and have very little to complain about, but here goes with a more frivolous question. I struggle to do up my bra! Has anyone come across a bra which is front fastening and is designed for a large size eg 36J ? I have tried a few from the Web and so far they are useless. Thanks.

Have a look at the website booborbust.com they have lots of info on measuring for the correct bra but also on good websites to buy from, best brands to use, and their facebook group also has lots of others asking similar questions. There's bound to be something on there that will help. :)

You have probably tried this but ......When I am finding things tricky I put my bra on 'backeards' round my middle, do it up , then twizzle it round and up up, putting on the straps. A bit of jiggling and twiddling and hey !

My wife did that for years. She had issues with a shoulder.

Yes I do that. Actually I've always done it- mum used to do the same so I picked up the habit from her! It really does help nowadays though🤗

I do a ,ix from M&S then I do slip on like gym bra style for easy days and find so much easier I had to give the back fastening ones up

Thanks both, yes I do both those things, and they are one solution but still a struggle. Thanks so much for your replies though!

Have you considered sports bras? I use them and it's so easy - I step into it and pull it up, then reverse when taking off.

nursing bras maybe an option as I recall back in 80’s I had a fine selection of front fastening ones.

RA in my shoulders makes sports bras difficult to wriggle in and out of, I’m a 34E. I’ve resorted to camisoles with built-in support in the form of a shelf or some come with sized cups. It’s a compromise but acceptable. M&S used to sell such things but these days I imagine an online search will produce a selection. Good luck.

I have the same issue as I’m an F cup, and struggle. I do like Bravissimo, they have shops where they provide fitting. They only seem to currently have two, but one only goes up to an H. Here’s the link to the other, not the most attractive but looks supportive and comfy.

They do online chat so may be able to direct you to another supplier.

I’m following this thread as I’m having problems too. I can’t get my arms comfortably round the back and find trying to twist your bra round from the front to the back a nightmare. I’m also big busted and have tried the front fastening bras lately. That’s an absolute no no as to put it bluntly, your boobs get in the way to even see the hooks and eyes. (Hope I haven’t put anyone off their breakfast?)

Oh yes, been there, done that. Barbara was busting out all over.

I fasten at the front and spin it round… also, Bravissimo for us ‘larger ladies’ who need industrial strength support 😂.. your life will be transformed!!

If even that’s too much, try their ‘sleep bras’..

bravissimo were able to sort me out. Cake and covid had changed my bust size up up up! I was wearing marks camisole but little support. The shop now does physical appointments once again🌼

I bet it was a man who invented doing a bra up at the back! All bras should be front closing. I can't believe they aren't. I normally go braless unless wearing particular clothing then I use a pull over the head kind.

post surgical bras quite often do up at the front as it’s hard to move your arms after breast surgery. There’s a brand called Royce..
