Yes, my gut bothers me when I'm flaring, better when im feeling a bit better too.My rheumatologist said it was to be expected, it is not just the joints, but a whole body flare.

Have had problems with looser stools and indigestion since being on Tocilizumab so the drugs can get you too. Am now off Toc but have been referred to the gastro department just in case it’s co-incidental. RA can affect all bits of you at any time. If you keep having problems with your gut don’t suffer in silence. You don’t say which bit of gut is your problem but don’t let the discomfort and inflammation get worse; see your GP and get help before it gets out of hand and makes you feel really ill. Good luck and get better soon.

Yes, I’ve recently had a massive bout of diverticulitis - took two lots of antibiotics, loads of Fybogel and quite a while to clear it up. I don’t know if it was an IA flare or what it was but my body felt awful and I was utterly exhausted for quite a while. I’ve had IBS for years - a lot longer than I’ve had the inflammatory arthritis but nothing like this before. I’m only taking 200mg hydroxychloroquine for my inflammatory arthritis.

I was like that with the IBS - I’ve had it since the 1980s - I figured that was just me. The diverticulitis came as a surprise though. It started a week or so after my Corminoty (Pfizer) bivalent covid vaccination so I’m wondering if that had anything to do with it.

Sadly RA being an auto immune disease can have a knock on effect especially the gut. Also higher for IBD. I've just been through tests to eliminate diseases/cancer and all clear. I have long term IBS but my GP wanted to sure it's nothing else. If the problem continues see or speak to your GP.

I try and avoid gluten. Bread makes me hurt 🥹

From my understanding ra is like a lot of health issues is made worsexbynlack of protein in our diets. I've been taking creatine monohydrate it gives your Immune system a boost. I've found that it not only has reduced the pain and stiffness, but helped fight off the bugs my step children bring home from school.Of course it's only effective if we suport it with taking vitamins, D being essential drink plenty of clean water and exercise everyday.

As for gut problems stop using vegetable oil, it's terrible stuff coursing a rang of health issues. Eating red meat as part of a balanced diet also helps. So much of what we've been told is based on advertising not medical fact.

Unheated olive oil is OK, if you don't want to use butter or lard for cooking Coconut oil is a good alternative.

Being constantly exhausted, feeling drained is one of the side effects of to much vegetable oil.

It's an interesting resertch subject if you have time. Came as a shock to me, it goes against so much of what I beleaved and what we've been told is good for us.

but our immune systems don’t need a boost, surely you’re counteracting what your meds are trying to do 🤷🏻‍♀️

Not in the slightest. We are what we eat, some if the treatments for things like Malaria are just high protein dased. Of course there are foods that aggravate ra, cooking with vegetable oil for instance, is terrible for our health. Your body ends up fighting basically what is a poison instead of helping is run. This us why we feel so tired all the time.

Have a look into creatine monohydrate, I fist read about its effectiveness against ra is the nhs patient access email. I could move my thumb or fingers on my left hand very painful as well and had stopped using it. A few weeks after taking it I was using it again, can even move my thumb now. Still stiff in the morning and a little pain, so much better than before.

My attitude is if itvworks great, if not try something else.

Far to many health issues people suffer from are down to poor quality food and lack of vitamins. Or in the case of vegetable oils out right lied to

my rheumatologist says forms of arthritis and gut problems are linked . The gut problem causes some of the bone problem .

Hi, obvs make sure it’s nothing more sinister but after being on a few different RA drugs including biologics and Supha I have found that I get intermittent problems. I have found that peppermint capsules actually do help. I was skeptical at first. I have also added in the odd peppermint tea. I hated the thought of peppermint tea before I tried it. But it’s really worked! Hope that helps.

You can get the capsules if you hate the thought of drinking the tea like I did at boots etc

I tried those peppermint capsules too but I found that I needed to take a lot of them because they didn’t seem to do very much for me.
