Glad you find it helps. It is good, especially though I find for OA pain. I've been using it years after a long standing member here had discovered it. It's also good in that it's not med based at all so can be confidently used alongside oral NSAIDs unlike something like diclofenac gel (Voltarol).

Great. Thanks for this. I have been looking for something for years, for my brother who has very bad osteoarthritis. I will get some today.

I'll have to look for it , too , as I could do with some help for my knees.

Been using it for years, a great addition to my pain relief arsenal and natural too!

I have heard good reviews, so good to share. Anyone with a shellfish allergy should avoid as it contains extract from mussels.

Maybe not all shellfish Maureen, though I understand your reason for caution. I have a shellfish allergy, but it's limited (!) to red shellfish. Mussels, cockles & such I don't react to. Definitely best to test on a small area first though just in case.

I may get some. Use piroxicam (diclofenac) occasionally, but prefer ‘deep heat’. Thanks x

Sombra, a massage therapy topical, has warming properties. I believe that wintergreen oil (methyl salicylate and not recommended for folks allergic to salicylates) is warming, too. Years ago Wilko made a muscle rub with methyl salicylate, sweet birch oil, eucalyptus, and some other ingredients that was warming and affordable. If you haven’t used it before, I should warn you that wintergreen oil/methyl salicylate can have a strong smell. Cayenne is warming, too. I knew someone whose doctor advised her to wear gloves while applying it. Not something you want to get in your eyes or on other sensitive areas, as I’ve learned from direct experience!

Thanks for that. I’m going to give that a try.

Evaluation: BMC Complement Altern Med. 2017; 17: 416.

Published online 2017 Aug 22. doi: 10.1186/s12906-017-1907-9

At week 12, there were no significant differences in VAS or WOMAC pain subscale between active and placebo groups, nor significant improvement in the WOMAC-20 responder criteria or OAQol. Joint stiffness (measured by WOMAC-B stiffness) in the GLM group improved compared with placebo (p = 0.046). There was a significant difference in paracetamol use between the GLM treated group and the placebo group after week 12 (p = 0.001).

Conclusions

BioLex® -GLM extract did not confer clinical benefit in moderate to severe OA over the intervention period, however, a significant difference in paracetamol use in the post-intervention period was observed between the BioLex® -GLM group and placebo group. Higher doses and/or longer treatment periods are worthy of future investigation.

Doesn't look as if many trials have been done. As long as it doesn't cause any problems worth a try? But natural does not equal harmless! Foxglove is natural and contains digoxin, too much will stop your heart....
