hi I'm becoming a yoga teacher while having RA and being 67 years old
I'm in remission so feel pretty good.My motto is use it or loose it.
keeping active weather it is yoga, pirates walking ,swimming is essential if you have RA. It makes me feel happier, calmer and physically stronger.
I'm keeping on trying to find a activity you enjoy and keeps you feel better.yoga should not really hurt and more gentle class might you feel more positive. Also being curious in how you body feels in different poses, does help.

Gentle stretching whilst in the large outdoor heated spa are beneficial to me, as is walking very short distances. Anything else brings on pain and a flare, including swimming, pilates, more than a few minutes walking. But so good to hear that you are becoming a yoga teacher I wish you well.
I try to continue my yoga practice. Some days it is much better than others. I endeavour to practice with acceptance of what I can do but keep trying. Well done to you 👍
Well done 🙌🏻🎉🙌🏻this is really wonderful & very inspiring for others, movement is hard for so many off us & it would be very easy to claim the sofa as your best friend but like you say movement is so so important & finding yoga teachers that understand our limits are few & far between. I think many of us would love to do yoga & maybe have, to then find themselves in a class with flexible ease of movement people, whilst we get left behind because getting up & down off the floor for many is difficult enough. I’m delighted to hear your news & sharing with us. I’m sure your class will be very busy being able to help others.. congratulations 🎉
Thank you all for such supportive posts . It's a challene to become a yoga teacher but all is going well and of course I dont intend to teach 20year olds how to put their leg on their shoulder. keep moving!
Wonderful that you’re doing yoga and pursuing teacher training! I love yoga for many reasons, not least for the strength, flexibility, fitness, and attention/mindfulness it helps cultivate. Teachers learn to sequence, and it’s a great way to learn how to construct your own individualized practice. Pain and injury also have a way of helping cultivate empathy for students, and I think that any struggles a teacher has had can help them be more sensitive, attentive, and gentle with students, which is as important as anything else conveyed in a class or one-on-one with a student. Yoga therapy is also taught and practiced around the world. Best wishes to you as you continue your journey! Stay curious!
